Born in Rocklin, California, Brandon Aiyuk grew up in Reno, Nevada, where he attended the Robert McQueen High School. After being named first-team All-Northern Nevada, he joined Sierra College where he caught 29 passes for 573 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman.
The San Francisco 49ers selected the talented wide receiver with the 25th pick in the 2020 NFL draft after receiving that first-round pick from the Minnesota Vikings in a previous trade.
"He can run every single route," 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the Draft.
"He can do it outside the numbers and inside the numbers. He has a certain skill set that is similar in terms of you don't want to peg him to one position. He can play all three: the X, the Z, and the F.
"He has the speed to play on top and to play in the slot. He has the toughness to go over the middle. The guy is committed to being as good as God intended him to be."
As Yahoo had reported at the time, Aiyuk put pen to paper on a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth season. He failed to impress in his first two seasons at the NFL franchise, as he didn't manage to have a proper offseason due to injuries and Covid-19.
"I went through a lot in my first two years," Aiyuk said.
"Even waking up today, I was just grateful for every lesson learned. To go through an actual offseason, where you come in, you work, you meet and you throw and play football, as opposed to coming into the league when you really don't know what to do, it's just been huge."
Back in 2020, Aiyuk agreed on a four-year, $12,531,342 contract with the San Francisco 49ers. This deal included a $6,673,704 signing bonus, $12,531,342 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $3,132,836.
As of 2022, Aiyuk's net worth is estimated at approximately $1.5 million. This year, he will receive a base salary of $1,749,213, which means that his net worth should be expected to increase.
