Daughter of Walt Disney, Diane Disney Miller Dies at 79

Disneyland's 50th Anniversary

No matter who you are, where you grew up, or what your interests are, it is safe to say you owe thanks to Walt Disney. Why? Because of all the families and kids he made life more enjoyable for. Years and years of entertainment and smiles are truly a gift that he gave us all. A bit of sad news for the Disney name this week, as Walt’s daughter, Diane Disney Miller, passed away this weekend at 79 years old.

SfGate talks a bit more about her unfortunate passing, but we just wanted to take a moment to give some props to her father and her family name. The saddest part in this is she was the last living daughter to carry Walt Disney’s name, so it seems the Disney legacy has ended. Well, actually, realistically, the beautiful thing about her father, Walt Disney, and his contribution to the world is, that IS his legacy. The Disney name, and all the smiles associated with it is and always will be his legacy.

So as sad as it is, we need to be aware. The Disney name will never be obsolete, and no matter what, when people think of it, they smile. That is about as huge a compliment as anyone could get.
