During lockdown, Hauer began teaching Zoom workout classes, and doing fitness Instagram lives. She says to Yours.co that she wanted to help people stay in shape during the pandemic. She also says that this helped her stay in shape and keep her spirits up. "It's about helping people, whether we are in lockdown or not, and trying to keep everyone active," she says.
When it comes to exercise, Hauer likes to keep it simple. She tells Yours.co that she likes to do exercises at home. "I go old school when I exercise at home doing squats, push-ups, jumping jacks and sit-ups. It's as basic as that! You can get a good workout doing 40 seconds work and 20 seconds rest for each exercise and doing four rounds of it."
Being a professional dancer, Hauer has to eat healthy. However, that doesn't mean going on a restrictive diet, as she doesn't think it helps in the long run. "I can't sustain a diet," she says to Yours.co. "I just need to make sure I am eating enough to fuel my workouts!"
Hauer is a part of the campaign, This Girl Can. She tells Yours.co that she joined this program to help other women. "I think it's really important for us to take into consideration all the different things that have been happening this year and especially how it's affected women and their levels of activity. We can very much go into multitasking mode, doing different things for everyone and taking care of everything around the house and the kids and working, but sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves and give a little time to focus on us."
Hauer naturally gets a lot of her exercise from dancing. She tells Women's Fitness, "Dancing is part of my life, it is what defines me. I don't know life without dance as I have been doing it since I was a little girl." "Moderate aerobic exercise includes activities such as brisk walking, swimming and mowing the lawn. Vigorous aerobic exercise includes activities such as running and aerobic dancing. Strength training can include use of weight machines, your own body weight, resistance tubing or activities such as rock climbing," says the Mayo Clinic.
