Taylor Swift is not new to grand gestures, having donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in the past to everything from fans in need to charities and charitable causes. Taylor was even named the most charitable celebrity for 3 years running, and now she has chosen to use a portion of her fortune to help Kesha buy out of her contract with Sony Music and Dr Luke, after a US Court Judge ruled not to release her despite claims of sexual assault and abuse, and thus prolonging Kesha’s battle for freedom.
The donation comes after a crowd fund page was set up in order to raise the money needed for Kesha to buy herself out of her Sony contract, which is reported to be $2 million. A big part of Kesha’s court case is that her inability to make music under Dr Luke has effected her financially, and will continue to do so if she is not released from it.
Kesha’s mum Pebe Sebert took to Twitter to break the news of Taylors generous donation, sending out a series of tweets thanking Taylor for her efforts to support Kesha in her quest to be freed from her contract.
Taylor Swift has just generously donated $250,000. to Kesha, as a show of support during this difficult time.AMAZING!!

A persons wealth is not measured by what they have but by WHO they they help with it. And Taylor Swift is is a truly RICH PERSON.
Thank you?

Taylor originally made the donation in private, but a spokesperson from her team has since confirmed to the media a donation was made after Pebe Sebert made the news public.
Not everyone was as happy as Keshas mom to hear about the donation, though; after alluding to Taylor in a series of Tweets criticising a feminists failure to speak out on the matter earlier in the day, Demi Lovato took to Twitter to further emphasise she was “unimpressed” by an unnamed individual many are presuming to be Taylor, mere moments after the news of Taylor Swift’s donation became public knowledge. Lovato seemed to suggest that the private, monetary donation was ineffective, liking a tweet from a fan saying “Money isn’t always the answer”.
It may not be the answer, but anything that helps Kesha take one step closer to freedom from her abuser and breaking her contract with Sony is something that Kesha is probably very, very grateful for right now, and its important to remember that it is helping Kesha find freedom and happiness and not impressing other people with our actions that should be the focal point of this situation. This is a real, tragic struggle for Kesha, and should not be turned in to a competition to find Americas Next Top Feminist.
Even Taylor’s generous donation should not become the focus of Kesha’s ongoing personal and legal troubles, and Kesha’s bravery during such hardships, and her continuos strength during this fight, is the most important aspect of it all.
Here at CelebMix, we stand with Kesha, and will support and endorse anything that will help her find freedom and happiness in such troubled times.
